Hull (cross section) to visualize this aspect of canoe design, think about bisecting the canoe from side to side. the hull can impact canoe performance in a number of ways, from stability to maneuverability to speed.. Others with more knowlage than i can answer your software question, but having built a number of canoes and sea kayaks i thought i would comment about your hull design: a canoe that big will have to have a fair amount of rocker or it will not turn well at all.. Understanding design elements will help you narrow the sometimes dizzying selection of canoes and make an informed decision.the most easily identified characteristics are length, width (or beam) and depth, but understanding the effects of things like rocker and hull shape are important, too..
The competition involves several aspects, but the most prominent is the canoe race. therefore, a fast and efficient hull design is required. i'm currently working on our design for this coming year. i would like some recommendations for books and software that would be helpful for creating an optimal canoe hull design.. Part 2a of our series on canoes and canoeing.. Make a 16 ft. canoe with 4 sheets of 1/4 inch plywood. by dozerrn in types > instruction manuals, building, and homemade.
